Holder to be nominated Attorney General

Holder, who is in the process of being vetted, has stated he would accept the job if asked. If indeed Holder is confirmed as is being reported by major news sources, he would continue the political trend of making history in this election season by become the first African-American to hold the job.
Holder, who is currently a partner at the law firm of Covington & Burling, which is based out Washington, was first a member of the Justice Department during President Carter’s term in office. He was nominated to be an associate judge of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. He served in this position for five years.
He was then chosen by President Bill Clinton to become the Attorney General for the District of Columbia, again a first for African-Americans. From there he went on to become Deputy Attorney General, again chosen by Bill Clinton. Former Democrat colleagues from this time have indicated their pleasure at President Elect Barack Obama’s choice.
Democrats seem pleased at the choice, clearly he has the sort of experience you would want for an Attorney General. The choice would, along with the rumored choice of Senator Hilary Clinton for Secretary of State, seem to be yet another outreach towards former President Bill Clinton in an attempt to smooth over the bad blood created on both sides during the primary season. While both Holder and Senator Hillary Clinton are unquestionably qualified for their respective rumored nominations, the link would seem undeniable. With the news that Senator Kennedy would be leading the effort in the Senate for Healthcare, the appeal of being Attorney General would seem to be stronger for Clinton than it might otherwise. It would seem President Elect Obama would like the rift in the Democratic Party created during the primary season to heal faster than you can say Laser Hair Removal FAQ
