Everyone’s A Fruit And Nut-Case.

Call me old-fashioned, but I don’t think the loss of even more jobs in Britain really sounds like a very good move. Surely, a company as large as Cadbury has learned to care for its workers; after all, it is the workforce that keeps everything running so smoothly. Cadbury’s chocolate is world famous for its high quality. So why do they need to sell out to Kraft?
Well, it will come as no surprise to you that it is all about money. The main concern behind the takeover by the American company was that the fat cats and share holders make a profit. But what about the ordinary men and women that make up Cadbury’s workforce? Sweet F.A (Flake All).
Maybe I am jumping the gun here; just because Kraft have taken over it does not automatically mean a loss of British jobs, does it? Well, I’m pretty sure it that it does. When they bought up Terry’s Chocolate Orange, the famous factory in York was closed very soon afterwards… and 350 jobs went to other countries.
It really is sad to see the end of Cadbury as a British company. It seems more like we are becoming taken over by American firms every day. Perhaps we can just apply to become the fifty-first state and be done with it. We could even stop off on the way to get a McDonalds’, a KFC or a Subway!
We are losing more of our Britishness every day. The companies that were once such a large part of our country are disappearing all the time and our own culture in the world is almost gone. Cadbury is just the latest casualty in this ‘selling ourselves down the river’; it is just more noticeable because we are all so familiar with it.
Within twenty years we will be living in a country that no longer has an identity of its own. There is so much more to everything than money, but so few people in business seem to realise this. Kraft has said they have a, ‘great respect for Cadbury’s brands, heritage and people’. But don’t bet on it. Views can change very quickly when extra money comes into the picture; as Cadbury have just proved so well.
So, I was chatting to my brother who works in finance and he thinks that there is massive money in buying stocks for biodiesel. He is one of those types of people who is of the stance that America is trying to seize the world by taking over the Middle East. I must say I am getting fairly fed-up of the fact that everyone seems to have the same rationalization on this.
