Obama and America’s bright future.

From an outside point of view, America has not been well run for a long time. How George Bush was voted in once is beyond my reckoning, never mind twice. I started to think that maybe the American people were just as stupid. I know that isn’t the case, but with a man like Bush in charge, you start to ask some pretty odd questions about how he got himself into a position of power.
As it turns out, people simply didn’t vote and when you don’t vote, bad things can happen. Bad things like having a man with a dangerously low IQ in charge of one of the most powerful military forces on the planet.
I think it is safe to say that America, whilst Bush was in charge, didn’t do very well with foreign policy. They made sceptics out of friends and enemies out of sceptics the world over. It used to be that America was seen as the foremost nation on the Earth, but during Bush’s eight year tenure, they managed to lose that title in favour of less positive ones.
I have never been a fan of America. Its policies, laws, so called “freedoms” and its largely ignorant people. During the Bush era, and for many years, even decades before it, America has acted like a petulant child in front of the world. If people don’t agree with them, they are ignored and cast aside, they declared wars at the drop of a hat and made up excuses for why men were risking their lives for no good reason.
They have tried to show that they are worthy of respect because of a lack of history and culture. They have tried to distance themselves from their British ancestry so they can show that they are capable of doing things by themselves. But whereas Canada has gone about this with dignity and pride, America has acted in a very childish manner.
However, despite all this negativity, it is easy to see that in electing a black President, America has shown that it may be starting to mature. It is coming out of its teenage years and finally starting to see some sense. But is Obama is the right man to take America out of the Bush “dark ages” and make the world see that the USA is not on a power trip? Foreign relations are began to be repaired (before Michelle offened most of the United Kingdom with her arms, and Obama ceased to do anything at all…) and Obama has talked about setting in motion some great policies that look to make America great once more, every sick person will be cured and every child will receive a dream education. Unfortunately putting them into action have not really happened at all and his state of the union address sounded disarmingly similar to his campaign address. That shows how many goals he has completed. So am I looking forward to the next four years? I guess we will see.
