Is that all the Americans Can Do To Israel, Talk. We Brits Should ask for more

The Israeli and Palestinian dispute has been raging for decades (if not centuries) while the US does very little to solve the problem. There is little doubt that the Americans support Israel in this battle (less so in recent times) and do very little in the way of condemning their actions. When the Palestinians commit acts of aggression, they are met by the US with disdain; however, when similar acts are committed by Israelis against Palestinians, rarely if ever do the US make any comments to challenge these aggressions.

Recently the Israelis have announced new housing plans and they did it when the US Vice President was there and even after the US president had encouraged them to halt all such construction in East Jerusalem and other areas. What did the US do? Pledge support for the Israelis.

Although the Americans love to stick their nose where it doesn’t belong, they seem to ignore this much heated battle. But what should we expect? Do they really want peace in the Middle East? Unlikely. They just want a controlling interest in the region.

Britain, on the other hand, must play a much larger role, and this is for two reasons.

1) Britain must take a stand and make sincere steps to bring peace to this much troubled land. As a world leader, Britain must show their interest and must act. Britain cannot afford to be a bystander like the Americans and simply make suggestions and “quiet meetings”. Britain must enter for the greater good of the region.

2) Britain, after years of being under the heel of the US, must make a stand that represents the nation’s philosophy, even if it contradicts the American philosophy. After years of being America’s lap dog and yes-man, it is paramount that Britain develops its own stature on the world stage. Tony Blair was a puppet of George W Bush and those years have tainted Britain’s reputation as a global leader. By taking a stand and making a contribution to the region, Britain can stand firm and become free of the American influence.

If only the rest of the world would do the same.

By the way; I have recently thought that we should all get together and pitch in to get a cannes villas next March and take a little holiday. I have been looking at them online and you can actually get some worthwhile deals, if we get enough of us together we could probably afford to get one for at least two weeks without going too far into our overdrafts.
