Enigin: The Writing’s on the Wall

A tribute to the american Warren Greshes
Enigin PLC
I have been signwriting for many varied customers for 6 years now and each company I encounter has different needs, goals and structures. I signwrite for companies from small sole traders up to large corporate companies and see each business as an opportunity to see how they operate and what methods I can apply to my own business.  My work can range from signwriting boats (whilst still on the water) to exhibition signs and displays to vast fleets of vans for well known car dealerships.

One of my customers I have seen grow from a small team up to a thriving company is an international business based in St Austell called Enigin plc.  They formed in 2006 and contacted me to do their signwriting on their new offices based in Truro. They were a really friendly group of people and it struck me how, even though they were all from a sales background, their work values were refreshingly honest.

After six months, they had to relocate as they had expanded very quickly and were too big to fit into their office so I was brought in again to signwrite their new offices on the other side of town. I was surprised at the speed they had developed and pitied the poor Office Manager who had to move everything over and build all the networks again from scratch! However, they all seemed to be very focussed and everyone that joined them were all working towards the same goal; to make the company a success.

After moving into their second offices, at this stage they were offering their customers week long training courses which I believe is still going on now.  I was to personalise the awards plaques each Partner received after completing their training.  The training appeared to be very intense but they were spoiled with champagne, caterers, evening meals at upmarket restaurants in town and excursions out in Cornwall.  Each customer was put first and someone was always on hand to answer questions or help them through a particularly tricky module.

Every time I visited, there was always a real buzz in the office as another customer joined them, they developed another product or formed a new department. Enigin always seemed to be one step ahead and constantly re-evaluating their market and adapting their strategies accordingly.  I found their business ethos could be tailored to my own company even though it was a completely different market to energy saving.

The Managing Director gave me a book once by an American chap called Warren Greshes which I still use to this day.  One of my favourite chapters talks about how you should place no limits on your ability to achieve.  Too many people believe that anything that seems hard or out of the ordinary is not realistic but if everyone had that opinion, NASA wouldn’t have got a man on the moon.

So to conclude what I think about Enigin; the writing is on the wall.  I know; I put it there.

Update 30/11/09
I have to admit that I have been on a little bit of an environmental kick as of late and I thought that this would be a good place to talk about all of the great discoveries that I am making, after all reducing energy costs is the main goal of Enigin! As a company they really do seem to be taking off, and now have offices all over the world (America included) and even though they just started with a little place based in St. Austell. Which tells me only one thing, energy conservation is becoming big business in every industry! I hope to be able to update you weekly from here on out with Enigin news and other environmental schemes that I believe are worth noting, because it seems to be something with worldwide relevancy!

Update on Enigin 07/12/09
Exciting new update on Enigin, they are introducing a new option for their partners in January 2010 called Knowledge Base. The Enigin Knowledge Base will pretty much be a place where all of the distributers can call with their queries, concerns, or even just comments. By the looks of it 90% of all distubuters concerns would be able to be answered through this one system.
I think that this will encourage an ever more open relationship that Enigin has with their clients, and is an amazing new way forward. Along with all of the other systems they offer, I am more convinced than ever with Enigin! I will be looking to update this page more often with exciting new things about Enigin, so watch this space!
