Why U.S. Senate Nominee Rand Paul’s Comments on Civil Rights Was Unfortunate

Posted by admin on May 27, 2010

Rand Paul’s comment was dead wrong because of how he answered to make it as if he was not 100% against racism. If he was going to answer the question, he should’ve at least answered it in a fashion that was clear, either yes he would’ve voted for the Civil Rights or no that he would not. Although racism is not as big in modern times now like it used to be back in the early to mid 20th century, Read the rest of this entry »

How to Fix US Immigration Law: What Must Be Done

Recently, the US has seen their immigration laws go under a microscope amidst the latest fiasco regarding Arizona’s changed laws. The Governor of Arizona, Jan Brewer recently passed a law that will make it illegal for any non-American to be present in the state without the necessary documents . It is also being strictly enforced, where citizens and non-citizens alike are under heavy scrutiny. This brings up the very apt comparison to an Orwellian society. Illegal immigrants are rounded up Read the rest of this entry »

Are the Americans Headed To Civil War

These days it is not unusual to hear people talk about an impending American Civil War brewing. But could it be that reality is a bit different on the ground. It seems that since the healthcare bill has been passed there has been a deep division as to what this means. From one side that supports the bill to those who simply hate everything about it. Both sides seem to be prepared to go to war over it. Do I Read the rest of this entry »

Is that all the Americans Can Do To Israel, Talk. We Brits Should ask for more

The Israeli and Palestinian dispute has been raging for decades (if not centuries) while the US does very little to solve the problem. There is little doubt that the Americans support Israel in this battle (less so in recent times) and do very little in the way of condemning their actions. When the Palestinians commit acts of aggression, they are met by the US with disdain; however, when similar acts are committed by Israelis against Palestinians, rarely if ever do Read the rest of this entry »

Should The US Provide Universal Health Care?

Health care is a matter of great importance today, as some diseases and health problems are currently on the rise. In order to fight diseases and lead a healthy life, all of us have to take the help of health care. However, there are many people who find it really difficult to bear medical costs and go for good treatment. Therefore, it is extremely important to have an organization around which would make medical treatment accessible for even people of Read the rest of this entry »

A 21st Century Empire?

History is littered with empire - Greeks, Romans, British, German, French, many countries have had a go at world domination. During these periods the dominating power has always viewed themselves as being in the right - they had taken their place in the world. The 20th century saw the demise of the British empire and the rise and fall of a communist one. These were replaced by the ever growing influence and power of the United States of America.

Obama and America’s bright future.

Obama and America's bright future.

From an outside point of view, America has not been well run for a long time. How George Bush was voted in once is beyond my reckoning, never mind twice. I started to think that maybe the American people were just as stupid. I know that isn’t the case, but with a man like Bush in charge, you start to ask some pretty odd questions about how he got himself into a position of power.

As it turns out, people Read the rest of this entry »

The Host Nation

In the early 80s I had the opportunity to work for a sumer in Washington DC. I was 21 years old and although I had moved out of home I had never been so far away from home and for such a length of time! I had a three month contract as a trainee manager in a small, exclusive hotel two blocks from The White House.

I was met at Dulles International Airport by a friend of the man Read the rest of this entry »

The Honeymoon Ends For Obama

Just over a year ago President Barack Obama took over at the Oval Office to acclaim and hysterical scenes both at home in the USA and abroad. His election seemed to offer a real change, and hope that the world scene was going to change in a dramatic and positive fashion.

All new Presidents, just like new Prime Ministers in the United Kingdom, can expect a honeymoon period where their popularity will remain high and their decisions will remain unquestioned. Read the rest of this entry »

Everyone's A Fruit And Nut-Case.

Call me old-fashioned, but I don’t think the loss of even more jobs in Britain really sounds like a very good move. Surely, a company as large as Cadbury has learned to care for its workers; after all, it is the workforce that keeps everything running so smoothly. Cadbury’s chocolate is world famous for its high quality. So why do they need to sell out to Kraft?

Well, it will come as no surprise to you that it is all Read the rest of this entry »
